Your porcelain veneers are nearly as strong as your natural teeth, but certain foods should still be avoided. If these foods are avoided, it will significantly prolong the amazing effects of your veneers.
Avoiding Hard Foods is a Must
Hard foods should be avoided as much as possible and snacks such as: hard candy and hard candy apples, chicken and rib bones – if hard food is a must, it is recommended that you chew with your back teeth.
Other Important Things to Avoid
Try as much as possible to avoid heavy alcohol on a frequent basis. Drinking the alcohol will dissolve the bonding material that was used to fasten the veneers to your tooth. It is strongly urged that you avoid chewing tobacco as well as smoking; further recommendations of things to avoid with veneers include:
Brushing your teeth with a hard or medium toothbrush, or brushing them hard with a paste that is too abrasive.
It is always encouraged to continue a daily routine of at home daily care, even with the veneers, this will ensure that the bacteria and plaque stay eliminated from between your teeth and inside your mouth which is essential for your gums and your mouth. This routine includes at least flossing once a day, brushing a minimum of 2-3 times a day, try to limit sugar intake and do your best to keep from drinking dark colored beverages. One of the most important things is to always remember to keep your regularly scheduled 6-month checkups.
